CW : 7 : Create a Brochure
Create a 11″ x 17″ brochure , that folds in half. Make up a cause , create a simple logo for it, and then design the layout based on:
- roll dice to figure out the number of columns on the right and left side of the brochure.
- 1 picture 3″ x 4″
- 4-6 paragraphs of blah blah (500words)
- 1 paragraph of legal blah blah (100 words small font)
- 1 inset quote (20 words)
- 1 headline (8 words)
- 1 logo design above.

CW : 6 : ‘Blue’ magazine
Create a magazine cover for a magazine inspired by ‘
‘ (the word blue, the color blue…) Once the cover is done, create a grid layout for the inside of the magazine and create a few sample pages using the layout.
timeboxing: 20 brainstroming, 20min claystorming, 20min drawing the output from claystorming, 20min rough, 20min final, 10 min grid, 20min final grid.
CW : 5 : White Space
Create a folder to hold a presentation, but the cover of the folder must have 90% white space on it. Once you create the folder, create a template for the presentation pages that will go in the folder; this is for a paint company advertising their new colors.
Time boxing: 20 min brainstorm, 20 min rough, 20 min final
CW : 4: One line Logo
This challenge is to create a logo for the Olympics that only uses one stroke of the pen (no lifting.)
Time boxing: 30min draw , 20min final.

CW : 3 : Old Ad to New Ad
Take an ad from the 40,50,or 60s and update the style to look like an ad from today (2012). This is a harder challenge for me for I don’t really pay much attention to ads, watch TV, or troll around in publications that have lots of ads, but on the flip side, it will get me out looking at different things I don’t usually look at, so On I go!
